While earning a Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science with a concentration in Criminalistics from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, Tinel Bedford joined the New York Police Department in April 1990. Within five years of superior service, Tinel Bedford became a Detective Investigator. In October 1997, Tinel Bedford earned a promotion to Sergeant. Throughout his career as a police officer, investigator and supervisor Tinel Bedford has received three citations for bravery and exceptional police work. As result of his supervision of forensic recovery and documentation at the WTC site Tinel Bedford also participated in numerous post-9/11 first responder programs dealing with weapons of mass destruction. The training programs were sponsored by the Center for Domestic Preparedness in Alabama, Dept of Homeland Security and The Dept. Of Justice. Along with being a police officer, Tinel Bedford has served as a Lecturer at the City University of New York. Working the college since 2005, Tinel Bedford teaches students about analyzing physical evidence and conducting crime scene investigations. Tinel Bedford’s students give him high marks for his teaching abilities and coursework. Tinel Bedford belongs to the International Association of Identification, the world’s oldest forensic organization, and the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. In his spare time, Tinel Bedford enjoys photography, travel, and martial arts.
