Tanya Hutchens wields more than 12 years of professional and technical legal experience as president of Toronto-based Gold Star Legal Services.
Tanya Hutchens began her career as a successful paralegal with Toronto-based, Gold Star Legal Services. From 1992 until 2004, Tanya Hutchens provided expert legal representation for a myriad of matters before the court. While her emphasis centered on representing landlord and tenants in various issues, Hutchens efficiently handled a variety of legal matters before Small Claims Court and Traffic Court. She also effectively dealt with summary criminal offenses. Tanya Hutchens remains a member of the Canadian Paralegal Association of Canada today.
Some of Tanya Hutchens’ most significant work centered on women’s abuse matters in the court. Hutchens represented hundreds of women dealing with abusive partners, and sought them safety and security through her work with the justice system. Tanya assisted battered women in obtaining restraining orders, gaining custody of their children, and various urgent family matters.
Today, Tanya Hutchens continues to demonstrate close ties with her role as an advocate of women’s issues. Tanya Hutchens devotes personal time and energy toward educational instruction in furthering women’s awareness and teaching self-defense classes. Hutchens herself is a second level black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and continues to practice this art.
