Gracepoint Fellowship Church acts as both a landing spot and growth center for those building their relationships with God. Located just blocks away from the UC Berkeley campus, Gracepoint Fellowship offers ministry for students and the greater community. Pastor Ed Kang leads his multicultural and Asian-American majority congregation through Gracepoint’s faith-inspiring messages and praise each week. Since its founding in 1981 as Berkland Baptist Church, Gracepoint Fellowship Church has grown in numbers and ministry services. Faithful followers love Gracepoint Fellowship Church because of its small, personalized group studies, in addition to its large gatherings. Gracepoint Fellowship’s meetings include Joyland for children, Element for youth, Praxis for singles and couples, and college get-togethers for domestic and international students. Gracepoint also organizes conferences and training seminars that support fellow Christian leaders and faith partners. Although Gracepoint Fellowship welcomes believers and seekers to its worship services, the church encourages membership for those ready to consecrate their lives to Christ. Gracepoint Fellowship Church conducts courses that potential members must complete by writing testimonies describing how they came to be saved and signing membership covenants with Gracepoint. Finally, members are baptized, signifying the start a new life with Christ. Gracepoint Fellowship Church demonstrates service through action with its community involvement initiatives. Gracepoint Fellowship regularly brings worship to those who cannot attend its services on Telegraph Avenue by visiting convalescent homes, homeless shelters, and senior citizen centers. ImpACT, a charity group that mentors underprivileged and at-risk Oakland youth, calls on Gracepoint members to volunteer. Gracepoint Fellowship sponsors over 150 children every month through Compassion International, a children’s advocacy group. One of Gracepoint Fellowship Church’s most exciting endeavors is its missionary work in countries like Taiwan, Cambodia, Russia, Honduras, Japan, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Uzbekistan, and Mexico.
