WARNING!! DON'T GET TAKEN BY THIS PLACE AS WE DID. We were in town for Upper Iowa Univ. graduation and they are the only place in this very small town (other than subs at the gas station) to have lunch. We didn't see a sign outside the building regarding a 'buffet' lunch because of people standing in front of it. We were taken to an adjacent building and told 'there's the buffet - help yourselves.' (no choice and no information) When we were finished eating, two waitresses came to our table with a tray of pies and said 'here's the selection of pies today.' We all assumed by the presentation that it was included in the buffet so we had pie. I nearly had a coronary when a few minutes later I received our bill. $64.45 for our family of 4!! We didn't bother to ask questions because we had not gotten any information up front and left $67 on the table and went off to graduation. I was so disturbed by it later that evening that I decided to call & talk to the owner. I did and she said that was correct and itemized the bill: 3 adult buffets @ 8.99…..............26.97 1 10 yr. old's buffet @ 7.50….........7.50 1 milk.............................................0.99 1 soda............................................1.59 2 pieces of pie................................6.00 2 pieces of pie ala mode................8.00 Subotal.................................................51.05 Tax..........................................................3.57 Total..............................................................54.62 AND a tip added in of......................................9.83 For a Whopping total of..............................$64.45 I cannot understand a tip of $9.83 for a serve-yourself BUFFET! The waitress doesn't even do anything!(And remember, we left $67 on the table-bumping the tip to $12.38!) I had a very small portion of lettuce, a spoonful of cottage cheese and a few peaches, and a bun with some bar-b-q pork on it. And the rest of my family ate a similarly small portion. This is a small-town greasy sppon that is run-down and not very clean - not like eating at a ritzy supper club where you'd expect to pay that much for an evening out. THIS IS HIGHWAY ROBBERY!!! This place must survive for the year based on the lucrative proposition of serving expensive buffet to unknowing out-of-towners visiting for graduation day. And to top it off, a friend with me used the very small (and very unclean) bathroom. When the toilet didn't flush properly, she picked up the plunger next to it to remedy the problem. When she plunged, she heard a weird gurgling noise and finally figured out that whenever she plunged, the water came up in the sink...GROSS!!
