No internet company would be complete without spending money on something crazy to delight its employees, and anger its investors. For some reason, techies just won’t come to work unless it looks like a playground. Some internet companies buy ergonomic chairs, some buy 21 inch flat screen monitors, some even have playrooms with couches and big screen TV’s. At iKarma.com we don’t play those kind of games. We play pro ball. So in addition to all that other stuff, we ALSO have Matt Rivers. Matt is our very own personal chef. Matt is actually the only employee perk that actually does get everyone to work on time. Nobody misses lunch. Nobody ever misses lunch. EVER!.

Our iKarma office has a full kitchen so we thought it would be cool to hire a student from the Florida Culinary Institute to come cook for us. We were all gaining weight from eating fast food and pizza, and losing over an hour of everyone’s time every day to go eat. We had no idea what hiring Mat was going to turn out to be. Productivity is up. Waistlines are down. No wasted lunch hours and no more greasy French fries.

We now dine in style on low calorie, portion controlled meals that make me drool just telling you about them. Pecan Crusted Grouper, Chicken Curry with Mango Chutney, Linguine with Sopranos Sauce, Parmesan Crusted Chicken and something called Shabu Shabu made with Kobe beef from Japan. I will never be satisfied eating normal food again.

Matt is a pleasure to work with and a pleasure to have around. Where ever he is and where ever he goes I know the people around him will be happy and well fed. I would say more but, I’m afraid someone will try and hire him away from me.
