Review #3405

Never use this person, never!

I asked for two sites -- things went along well at first. When the initial sites were delivered, they were in two zip files (one for each site). One site worked when I unpacked the zip file, the other did not -- it didn't have the right files in it.

I wrote to Lori and asked what to do, she told me to copy x to y. But, her directions were wrong. I had to read the HTML to figure it out.

Later I asked her to do something to the header -- she gave me a very poorly designed header, and instructions to upload. That didn't work. There was white space on each side, and a tag for a picture that had been deleted. I had to figure out how to edit the style sheet and the images to make it work right.

This is a typical email exchange. In it you will see that I make a specific request, because I couldn't figure out what to do. Not only did she *not* re-package everything as requested, but she sent me an email later (below the one) telling me what to do. This exchange was typical.

Hey Eliot,

We just got back in from dinner ;)
I just clicked the link to the site, and it looks ok to me.
What images are you not seeing?

Lori

Hi Lori,

I messed around with the images, and still am having problems with www.certifiedfairgambling.com

Please repackage the whole thing again and upload it. I think there may have been some common images between the two sites that were not uploaded with the CFG package separately.

Eliot,

Just take these two images, and upload them OVER the images of the same name in the /img/folder of the certifiedfairgaming.com site.

I made the mistake of saying to Lori I liked the site and paying for it all, saying I approved of it. Writing that I approved was a mistake. I admit that. I didn't look at it closely, I was busy and not paying much attention. Lori seemed nice and I thought she would work with me. But, once she got payment, her interest in the site was over. I couldn't keep working with her.

I asked for things and she hacked stuff out in about 30 seconds that barely sufficed and I had to figure it out myself. I wanted a professional site and she sent me links of some great sites, but she didn't deliver anything like what she pointed me to. She then sent me emails saying to copy this there and move this here, and upload that there, and over and over again it didn't work. In the end, I spent almost 20 hours fixing her hack job -- and that's not what I paid for.

Two big thumbs down. If you have a chance to get another developer, do so!

Comment After delivery files (which WERE properly packaged, not properly uploaded by him) and final payment, Eliot began to send unpleasant emails degrading my work, and professionalism because he caused errors with what was provided by making changes that he did not have the skills to make. Full email discussions and coded sites available on request.
