I saw the first blog design I liked on a blog made by Joni Mueller, it had a very nice 'Luxembourg' header, where you see a vista of this town in fish-eye view. The rest of the layout went very well with it. Later Joni Mueller made me a design with just that header, but a different, 'boyish' layout, both for my WordPress blog, and later for my Opera blog. She has become rather famous for her designs at the Opera community, and there is always instant feedback when the client wants to make changes to the css.
