As a tutor for special education students, Scott Besander has helped students learn academic subjects while also helping them develop good organizational skills and study habits. Scott Besander has been involved in the education field since 2004, when he began his studies in Special Education at Southern Illinois University Carbondale in Carbondale, Illinois. While earning his degree, Scott Besander undertook room supervisory duties with the Options Program at Brehm Preparatory School in Carbondale. During his two-year tenure, Scott Besander focused on teaching special needs and practical reading skills. Scott Besander also assisted students in their cooking and cleaning responsibilities, as well as providing transportation to and from after-school functions, as necessary.
In 2008, Scott Besander graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, taking on responsibilities as a Student Teacher at an elementary school and a middle school in Murphysboro, Illinois, in 2008 and 2009.
Scott Besander first became interested in a career in special education as a high school student at Palatine High School in Palatine, Illinois. Scott Besander became aware of the school’s well-recognized special education program and formed friendships with several students in the program. Graduating from high school in 1998, Scott Besander joined the U.S. Army in 2000. Stationed in Georgia, New Mexico, and Illinois as a radio transmitter operator, Scott Besander received honorable military discharge in 2008.
Scott Besander participated in soccer, football, and gymnastics in high school. He remains athletics to this day by working out, training in martial arts, and playing baseball. Scott Besander has combined his passions for sports and assisted people with special needs through participation in the Special Olympics Polar Plunge Winter Festival events. An avid reader, Scott Besander counts Stephen King among his favorite authors.
