? Profile

Entrepreneur Angus Davis initially entered the technology industry while still in high school, serving as a part-time website programmer for Internet service provider Intelecom Data Systems. Forgoing a college education to kick-start his career, Angus Davis joined Netscape Communications immediately following high school, becoming the company’s youngest full-time employee. As part of a four-person team, Angus Davis reported directly to the company’s founder and Chief Technology Officer. Additionally, he acted as Product Manager for a number of projects, including the well-known Web rendering engine Gecko. After almost two and a half years with Netscape Communications, Angus Davis branched off to launch his own business. He co-founded Tellme Networks with Mike McCue, raising $238 million in venture capital and generating sales of more than $120 million per year. In a 10-year span, he developed the start-up into a 312-employee business. Having built revolutionary speech interface software, Angus Davis and his associates attracted the attention of Microsoft, which acquired Tellme in 2007 in a $1 billion deal. Angus Davis stayed with Tellme until 2009, when he decided to flex his entrepreneurial muscles again and founded Swipely. As Chief Executive Officer of the social commerce company, he oversees daily operations and directs product development. Since embarking on this enterprise, he has secured $8.5 million in investment funding from venture capitalists Greylock Partners, First Round Capital, and Index Ventures. An advocate for educational reform, Angus Davis spends his time away from the office supporting organizations such as The Center for Education Reform; Democrats for Education Reform; KIPP (Knowledge is Power Program); Democracy Prep Public Schools; and Teach for America, Inc. In his home state of Rhode Island, he serves as a member of the Board of Regents for the Rhode Island Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

iKarma Inc. Rating Given: *****
"Honesty and openness are sometimes undervalued traits - many would prefer to hide the past, rather than to allow others to freely and publicly record it for all to see. By creating an iKarma Profile, Tellme Networks has demonstrated a firm commitment to maintaining a responsible and sincere reputation online. Such people, both rare and precious, are a credit to both business and society.

We believe that integrity should be rewarded. The iKarma team is happy to welcome Tellme Networks to our service."
