A lauded physician specializing in orthopedics, sports medicine, and rehabilitation, Dr. Michael Fredericson is currently Professor of the Department of Orthopedics & Sports Medicine at Stanford University Medical School. Board certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners, the American Board of Physical Medicine & Rehab (in both Physical Medicine & Rehab and Sports Medicine specialties), and the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine, Dr. Michael Fredericson has served countless patients in the sports medicine and rehab arenas while educating the next generation of top physicians. Dr. Michael Fredericson, a fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine, has been recognized by the Stanford PM&R Residency Program twice with an Excellence in Teaching Award and the recipient of the 2007 Excellence in Musculoskeletal Medicine Award from Kessler Medical Rehabilitation Research & Education Center.
In addition to his duties at Stanford, Dr. Michael Fredericson volunteers with a number of athletes and sports teams to promote the health and safety of athletes. He is a member of the Sports Medicine Society of the U.S. Olympic Committee, was the Head Physician for the USA Track & Field Team at the 2006 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Moscow, and has been the Head Team Physician for Stanford's cross-country, track, swimming and diving, and women's softball teams since 1992. Stanford's Vaden Student Health Center and the Palo Alto VA Health Care System have employed Dr. Michael Fredericson as a consulting physiatrist. Magazines and newspapers frequently consult Dr. Michael Fredericson for his expertise on sports injuries, and his advice has appeared in Men's Health, Runner's World, and Triathlete Magazine.
A graduate of New York Medical College, where he ranked in the top two percent of his graduating class, Dr. Michael Fredericson completed his residency in Stanford's Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department, where in time he was chosen as Chief Resident. In addition to his professorial duties, Dr. Michael Fredericson serves as Director of the Electrodiagnostics Lab and Clinic Chief in the Stanford PM&R department.
