Joshua Levinberg has proven himself to be a successful businessman and entrepreneur through the numerous positions he's held in large international corporations and his own profitable investments. Today he holds the position of Executive Vice President of Strategy and Corporate Business for a thriving communications company that he helped establish, Gilat Satellite Networks, and has held that title since 2005.
Joshua Levinberg, born in Tel Aviv, Israel, attended a high school in neighboring Ramat Gan that has educated some of the nation's greatest entrepreneurs, Ohel Shem. After high school he continued his education at the Tel Aviv University and was awarded a BSc in electronics and electrical engineering. Returning to the Tel Aviv University, Joshua Levinberg recently spoke on opportunities in the expanding telecommunications industry in Brazil at an MIT Forum hosted by the university.
Founder and Businessman
Joshua Levinberg's history with Gilat Satellite Networks goes back to 1987 when he was one of the co-founders of the company. Since that time he has proven himself to be a valuable asset to the company through the many positions he has held, including Senior Vice President of Business Development and Vice President of Marketing. In 1989 he relocated to the United States and built a company presence there. Joshua held the positions of both Executive Vice President and General Manager for the US division from 1989 through 1994.
Gilat Satellite Networks
As a provider of networking services and products and digital satellite communications founded on Internet Protocol, Gilat Satellite Networks creates very small aperture terminals (VSATs) and related equipment for the international market. Though mainly supplied to providers of communication services, the customer list includes both governmental agencies as well as private residence users. The company's three operative divisions are Gilat Network Systems (GNS), Spacenet Rural Communications (SRC) and Spacenet Inc. Joshua Levinberg was the vice president of marketing for Spacenet Inc from 1995-1996.
Joshua Levinberg discussed current international market trends in the satellite industry during a recent interview by satellitemarket.com. Along with participation in the global VSAT market, Gilat is making important strides in the area of military communications. By relying on innovation and creativity, the company is able to provide relevant applications and solutions that address the specific satellite communications needs of any given country.
In 1997 Joshua Levinberg created Global Village Telecom and headed the new company as its Chief Executive Officer from 1998 until 1999. The company's business pursuits are based in Brazil, supplying a variety of local telecommunications products. With an approximate value of $4 billion, Global Village Telecom was acquired by Vivendi.
Satlynx SA, a supplier of broadband communications to European corporations, home businesses and residents via satellite, is another company that Joshua Levinberg co-founded. He was the company's first Chairman of the Board from 2002-2003. GE acquired the company and it now operates under the name GE-Satcom.
Amiram Levinberg and Joshua Levinberg joined forces in 2003 to establish the highly successful investment company, JAL Ventures LTD. Since its establishment, JAL Ventures has invested in a variety of companies and markets including Kasamba, Agropeace Bio Ltd., Matan Printers, ERAYO.com, Capital Point, C.I. Industries, DenTack, Xsight Systems, and GoNetworks. Joshua Levinberg is involved in the operations and holds active positions at Agropeace Bio Ltd, where he is a board member and co-founder, NanoRep, where he is aboard member, and Matan Digital Printers, as a board member.
