James Toya brings nearly 25 years of experience in the financial industry to his position as Managing Director of Finance at Credit Suisse in New York City. James Toya began his education in finance at the State University of New York in Binghamton. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1986 with a degree in accounting, preparing for his Master in Business Administration. James Toya was accepted as an MBA candidate at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. Considered one of the top MBA programs in the country, many of the finance world’s policy makers and executives have attended Wharton. Wharton's competitive MBA program helped position Jim Toya for the excellent work he produced at Credit Suisse. Prior to his graduate studies, James Toya worked at KMPG Peat Marwick, one of the largest professional services firms in the world. KMPG has three lines of services – audit, advisory and tax. Jim Toya was certified as a CPA in NYS after passing all of the required exams. Mr. Toya worked in the Audit Department at KMPG for two years, as well as the Tax Department for two years. During his time at KMPG, James Toya gained a great deal of knowledge regarding the intricacies of global finance. Like Mr. Toya’s later employer Credit Suisse, KMPG is a truly global organization with offices in over 140 countries worldwide. In 1992, James Toya joined the Interest Rate Sales department of Credit Suisse. Mr. Toya established himself as a skilled and knowledgeable finance specialist, and was promoted to a position on the United States Treasury Desk in 1998. From 1998 – 2005, Jim Toya served as a market maker for Credit Suisse, quoting rates for the financial institution’s US Treasury trading desk. During this time, Jim Toya produced exceptional returns for Credit Suisse. In 2005, James Toya began managing a team of 150 employees in New York, Tokyo, London, Singapore and Hong Kong as Co-Head of U.S. Interest Rates. James Toya was eventually promoted to his current position as Managing Director in 2004.
