Now a well-respected public school administrator, Dr. Greg Domecq earned his Master’s degree at the University of Virginia’s Curry School of Education while simultaneously coaching highly successful NCAA Division I Basketball at the university. Subsequently, Greg Domecq became an Assistant Principal at Monticello High School. Throughout his five-year tenure, Greg Domecq served as a top performer, fulfilling duties such as the supervision of physical education, fine arts, and social studies. Greg Domecq also directed the Summer Leadership Academy, which dramatically increased the opportunities available to students whose 8th grade test scores indicated a need for extra support. In 2003, Greg Domecq was promoted to the role of Associate Principal at Western Albemarle High School. Greg Domecq now guides and supports the English and Special Services Departments. In addition, he leads transportation, the 9th and 10th grade discipline, and the honor council. Moreover, Greg Domecq has served on district-wide committees such as the School Business Alliance and the Teacher Performance Appraisal Steering Committee. Greg Domecq is the author of the Teacher Performance Appraisal Process Manual. Greg Domecq continues to set an outstanding precedent in his work at Western Albemarle High School. Greg Domecq was awarded his Doctor of Education by the University of Virginia’s Curry School of Education in 2004. Greg Domecq received his Doctorate in Educational Leadership with minors in curriculum, instruction, and social foundations. He wrote his dissertation on the advantages of the Summer Leadership Academy at Monticello High School. Over the years, Greg Domecq has been invited to present at the University of Virginia, Piedmont Virginia Community College, Mary Baldwin College, and the Waynesboro Kiwanis Club. Over the years, Greg Domecq has been named an Outstanding Educator by the Charlottesville City Schools, a Teacher of the Year by the MAACA, a Coach of the Year by the Times Picayune, and a Charlottesville Area Outstanding Administrator by the University of Virginia Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa.
