| With a wide range of professional certifications, academic achievements, and personal interests, finance and banking executive Herbert Wigwe maintains a balanced lifestyle. As Group Deputy Managing Director of Access Bank PLC in Lagos, Nigeria, since March 2002, Herbert Wigwe additionally serves on various company boards and committees. Herbert Wigwe is current Chairman of Access Investment and Securities Limited, Director of Access Bank Limited in the U.K., and Chairman of Access Bank Limited in Ghana. A Fellow of the Institute of Credit Administration of Nigeria (ICAN) since 2007, Herbert Wigwe also maintains a long-running fellowship (FCA) with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. From September 1977 to June 1982, Herbert Wigwe attended Federal Government College in Warri, where he earned his West African School Certificate. Upon graduation, Herbert Wigwe enrolled at the Federal School of Arts and Science in Sokoto, pursuing “A” Level studies from September 1982 to June 1983. In September 1983, Herbert Wigwe focused on finance and accounting as a new student at the University of Nigeria Nsukka, eventually gaining a B.Sc. in Accountancy (2nd Class Upper Division). After a period training with Coopers and Lybrand Associates Limited in Lagos, Herbert Wigwe received the prestigious British Council Scholarship to attend graduate school in the U.K. Choosing the reputable economics program at the University College of North Wales, Herbert Wigwe moved from Nigeria to Bangor, Wales, in October 1990, where he spent the next year. Herbert Wigwe graduated from the University College of North Wales in September 1991 with an M.A. in Banking and Finance. Further enriching his professional development, Herbert Wigwe later earned an M.Sc. in Financial Economics from the University of London and also received postgraduate training at the Harvard Business School. In his free time, Herbert Wigwe and his wife, Doreen, enjoy swimming and travel whenever possible. A resident of Lagos, Nigeria, Herbert Wigwe conducts business with corporations around the world.
