| As an In-House Designer and Interior Designer, Sam Szabla gives hotels, homes, and restaurants bold new looks that are tailored to their spaces. Currently the principal designer of Hibiscus Island Home LLC, Sam Szabla finds inspiration for his designs from cultures around the world. Sam Szabla’s avant-garde creations reflect both luxury and purpose for the discerning client. Homeowners from Paris, Beverly Hills, Nice, Miami, Sao Paulo, and Honolulu have commissioned Sam Szabla to transform their homes. Taking a whole house approach, Sam Szabla ensures every room receives total renovation. Sam Szabla often includes his private label bedding and textiles under the Island 29 and Treasured Thread brands. Sam Szabla’s expertise earned him Best New Designed Model Home and Kauai Best in New Home Design Ideas accolades. Prior to crafting rooms with Hibiscus Island Home, Sam Szabla lent his design expertise to South Beach Plaza Hotels and Villas. Sam Szabla renovated a chain of hotels in South Beach. As part of his commitment to fluid design, Sam Szabla considered the Historical Board’s recommendations for the original Art Deco look while updating the hotels for today’s guests. Sam Szabla’s work resulted in new hotels, bars, and restaurants that reflected Florida’s swanky yet relaxed style. Sam Szabla honed his interest in design while receiving his education from La Domade College of Design in Paris. Responding to the demand for custom-made furniture and home accessories, Sam Szabla opened Hawaiian House in 1996. Sam Szabla gathered inspiration and products from all over the world to develop his line of furniture, bedding, soaps, candles, and small goods for sale in five stores on three Hawaiian Islands. Sam Szabla’s entrepreneurial endeavors included several firsts on the Islands, including the first to offer Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream and Seattle’s Best Coffee. He also sold Hawaiian House candles at the outside retailer Charlotte Russe. InterDesign honored Sam Szabla with its annual award in 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2002. When the Hawaiian House brand was acquired by Delano and Seymour Inc., Sam Szabla made available his buying and designing expertise for its Hawaiian House Royal Collection, the Delano Slip Cover Sofa Collection, and the Seymour China Collection.
