Ipe Cruz is a seasoned magazine publishing executive with more than 7 years of print media experience in the Philippines. With an initial background in business consultancy and finance, he began his career in print media in 2003 as a lifestyle columnist for Philippine Star, a national broadsheet as well as for several upscale local glossies including Metro, Metro Society, Youngstar and Manual Magazines. In 2005, after launching his very own pocket personality book called P.O.P! (Pictures of People), he joined ABS-CBN Publishing Inc., the print arm of ABS-CBN, one of the largest multi-media conglomerates in Asia.
As Business Development Associate, he was charged with developing and managing new revenue streams for the company. Key initiatives included licensing of Philippine titles to Japan, North America and Europe, custom/contract publishing projects, third party circulation, international & Philippine subscriptions, firm sale exports, e-magazines, internet driven support businesses and special events.
After his promotion to Associate Publisher, he was tasked with the overall business operations and strategy for five premier lifestyle magazines, namely: Metro Society (a luxury lifestyle magazine), Metro Home (an upscale shelter magazine), Metro Him (a high-end men's fashion magazine), Chalk (a college fashion & lifestyle magazine) and Myx (a teen rock music & lifestyle magazine) Key functions included oversight of editorial production, coordination for timely printing and distribution to Philippine newsstands, optimization of advertising and circulation sales, multi-platform marketing to target readers and formulation of budgets, P&Ls and other financials,
During his tenure as Associate Publisher, he attended the 2008 Stanford Professional Publishing Course, a specialized seminar for senior publishing executives conducted by leading US Publishing luminaries in cooperation with Stanford University.
