Test a sample with gas chromatography at Innovatech to find out what components make up the sample. With gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, the sample brought in for testing is injected into a gas chromatograph which volatilizes the sample, then separates the various components of the sample based on size and/or polarity. The separated components then go into a mass selective detector. The resulting mass spectrum allows for the identification of the components using standard reference libraries. Quantitative results can be obtained through the use of standards. Sensitivity ranges can be as low as picogram levels.
