"Any public television executive should also have the ability and expeprience in fund raising, marketing and sales. Just managing is not good enough. Every radio or television outlet should always seek a well-rounded station executive who understands the business and what is going on in order to make the right decisions". - Victor Hogstrom

Whether managing a small-budget station in a small market or a large-budget station in an urban metropolis, Victor Hogstrom has not yet failed to achieve success in the field of public broadcasting. Through his unique two-fold approach to management, based on innovation and efficiency, Hogstrom has consistently increased both viewership numbers and operating budgets while simultaneously keeping unnecessary expenses under control. He always has an eye on the bottomline, believing that "every drop of water makes a mighty ocean".

Demonstrating impressive skills early in his career, this goal-oriented CEO assumed his first executive level position at a young age, becoming the General Manager of Rockford, Illinois-based public cablecast television station, WPTI-TV. Getting to work quickly, WPTI turned a net profit of $50,000 by the end of Hogstrom's first fiscal year after building the station and putting it into operation just a year before.

While at WPTI, Hogstrom improved the station’s visibility on a local and national level and streamlined many of its core business functions. Hogstrom was also responsible for making WPTI America's first cablecast public television station, an entirely new concept in public television at the time.

Upon leaving WPTI in search of a new challenge, Victor Hogstrom continued to develop his successful managerial style at KIXE-TV in Redding, California. Some of the many impressive leaps Hogstrom made during this period include: building the station a brand new state-of-the-art broadcasting facility (when he was told the funds could not be raised locally), replacing nearly all of the station’s broadcast equipment, and producing several original programs that went on to air nationally. "Now that I think back on it, that was huge for such a small market", he quipped. An organization can best serve its target audience by building loyalty and maintaining standards of professionalism, quality service and accountability. This includes building relationships with people of diverse views, interests and background", he concluded.

From KIXE-TV, Victor Hogstrom assumed the head management position at the Chattanooga, Tennessee station, WTCI-TV. As President and CEO of WTCI, he wasted no time in increasing viewership from 30,000 to 100,000 homes weekly and developed several exciting new local programs and revenue streams for the station via Internet based technologies. Additionally, Hogstrom involved the community in the success of WTCI by developing the coverted annual WTCI Community Service Award, distinguished the station's brand and credibility.

After his revitalization of WTCI, Hogstrom took on his most recent role as President and CEO of Kansas City-based KCPT. Under his astute management, the national and regional Emmy Award winning station was completely transformed, seemingly overnight. Turning years of losses into profit in under a year, Hogstrom led the significant reduction of the station's huge debt load. In addition to his management of the station, Hogstrom was also the host of the popular program “One-On-One with Victor Hogstrom,” which featured important guests from the Kansas City area.
It is also worth mentioning that "One-On-One With Victor Hogstrom" was not the first program to feature Hogstrom's talents. Coming from a strong background in news and public affairs, Victor Hogstram has always experienced life in front of the camera as a former news reporter, commercial broadcaster, and host of the religious news program "Religion Today". So how did he develop his much talkled about fundraising skills? "I had no choice", he answered. "When I headed the Rockford station, it was an innovative idea but it was not qualified to receive Federal Funding as regular pubcasters. So I hit the ground running, developing fundraising ideas, skills and strategies that were successful".

Hogstrom is a non-LDS Brigham Young University graduate with a BA in Mass Communications, BA in International Relations and a Master's in Mass Communiocations with a minor in Political Science.
