A leader in venture investing for the information and technology services industry, Steve Brotman is the Managing Director of New York City-based Greenhill SAVP. In his position, Steve Brotman has been the driving force behind a number of important investments and is currently seated on the board of several companies, including Managed Systems, Critical Mention, and Cosential, among others. Previous noteworthy board positions include Steve Brotman’s time with DataSynapse, 7thOnline, and UGO.
Originally founding SAVP (Silicon Valley Venture Partners) in 1998, Steve Brotman’s company was brought into Greenhill & Co. in 2006. Having earned a variety of accolades for his work over the course of his career, Steve Brotman has consistently proven his abilities in business management. Besides being a finalist for the 2000 Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Steve Brotman has been named to a number of exclusive “who’s who” lists. Included among these are Crain’s “Tech 100” in 2001, Crain’s “Top 25 Players in Silicon Valley” in 1997, and Crain’s “Top 40 under 40” for New York businesspeople.
While his distinctions are certainly impressive, Steve Brotman’s achievements go back even further. Earning his Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Steve Brotman was a highly active and involved undergraduate at Duke University. In addition to participating in Duke Student Government as Vice President, Steve Brotman wrote for Duke’s student newspaper and was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. From Duke, Steve Brotman decided to pursue his interests in business and law further at Washington University, where he graduated with honors and received a joint JD/MBA degree.
Outside of his work, Steve Brotman enjoys spending time with his family, reading, and golfing. Active in helping young entrepreneurs, Steve Brotman also serves on the board of the MIT Enterprise Forum and is a judge for the Columbia Business School Lang and Greenhouse Funds.
