BRS Labs, also known as Behavioral Recognition Systems, Inc., is an innovative software development company that is creating the next generation of surveillance technology with its proprietary machine-learning and video analytics software that effectively removes the once-necessary human element from video surveillance. BRS Labs is the creative effort of entrepreneur, trendsetter, and visionary Ray Davis, Chairman and CEO of BRS Labs. He formed the company with the intention of solving the increasing problem of millions of cameras being installed worldwide that lacked the ability to secure and protect sufficiently, since the system required constant human observation and most systems had an overwhelming number of security monitors per security guard.
To overcome the challenges of the surveillance industry, BRS Labs assembled the frontrunners in machine-learning and computer-vision technology to create the first-ever behavioral recognition surveillance system that did not require a human to monitor the frames or define behavioral parameters. BRS Labs named its intricate, “adaptive learning” software AISight, which uses artificial intelligence and behavioral learning to detect suspicious activities without human assistance. AISight’s technology uses an advanced algorithm that takes input from existing surveillance systems and deciphers various moving objects in each frame, analyzing the activities, changes, and motions of each and determining whether the behavior is normal or high-risk based upon the standard the perception engine has observed and learned for the particular environment. In addition to eliminating the human element, the BRS Labs software increases the likelihood of detecting clandestine behavior because it improves camera resolution and reduces glare, shadows, and distortions that usually hinders surveillance, making AISight a significant improvement over the more widely-used software. The BRS Labs’ system is considered the next evolution of surveillance because it is not a pre-coded software, but rather an algorithm that adapts to every environment by learning what is normal activity for the area and then recognizing and anticipating behaviors based on actions it has already observed over time, reducing overall false positives. If it predicts abnormal behavior, the BRS Labs’ AISight sends an immediate alert to a human operative, who can then take action.
