Dr. Mark Lonquist is a man who knows how to combine the professional with the recreational. Lonquist, the Medical Director and a Physician at Estrella Mountain Medical Group in Goodyear, AZ, has continued to work hard and play hard throughout his education and his career in medicine. Mark Lonquist began his path to medicine at the University of Victoria in Canada. When he was not attending classes and working toward his degree in Biochemistry, Dr. Mark Lonquist was busy engaging in campus activities. Lonquist was a member of the indoor intramural floor hockey team and participated in events with the school’s Rock Climbing Club.
Mark Lonquist earned his Bachelor’s degree in 1988 and went on to study Medicine at the University of British Columbia, where he continued his college spirit and activity level. Mark Lonquist resumed playing hockey, but this time trying his hand at intramural ice hockey. Lonquist’s Intramural ice hockey team won in its division for two consecutive years. Mark Lonquist also went running and biking and played golf, as well. In addition to playing sports, Mark Lonquist kept up with his medicine studies and earned his M.D. Later on in his education, Dr. Mark Lonquist studied Family Practice at the University of British Columbia and received his degree in April 2004. In the last leg of his college education, Dr. Mark Lonquist remained a hockey player and a golfer and was the team doctor for a junior hockey team. Lonquist’s efforts as the team doctor were recognized at an awards ceremony. Today, Dr. Mark Lonquist spends his days off playing hockey, golfing, running, and playing tennis. In his spare time, Mark Lonquist also volunteers to coach golf, as well as volleyball.
