Mr. Gary J. Iskra, Executive Consultant of GI Capital Partners, is currently involved in strategic planning, marketing and sales, and investment capital endeavors at GI Capital. At GI Capital Partners, Gary Iskra is responsible for discovering fresh concepts that meet marketplace demands and generate investor value. Since joining the investment capital firm’s executive team in January 1995, Gary Iskra has raised over 60 million dollars in equity and designed working models for startup consumer direct marketing businesses. Amid his over 30-year career, Mr. Iskra has also launched five startups, spearheaded and invested in five different business acquisitions, and sold two businesses, one to a private individual and the other to a large, brand-name corporation.
Gary Iskra began his career as a businessman and entrepreneur in 1970, founding and managing Mt. Royal Meat Co., selling high-quality meat products to restaurants, private clubs, and restaurants throughout western Pennsylvania. In 1972, Mr. Iskra accepted a sales and management position at KoolVent, Inc. that would eventually lead to a 20-year vocation at the home improvement business. In 1974, Gary Iskra was promoted to Vice President of KoolVent and made the company a dominant regional force, increasing its 3 business locations to a total of 16 offices in 5 different states, before eventually being named Executive VP of Sales and Operations in 1980. Ever the entrepreneur, Gary Iskra acquired KoolVent Inc. in a leveraged management buyout and became the enterprise’s President and CEO in 1986. Under Iskra’s direction, KoolVent Inc. acquired a local Sears licensed business and began establishing competing corporate models in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio. In 1995, as the Chairman and CEO of American Home Improvement Company (AHIC), Iskra united KoolVent retail operations with Sears retail operations to take the home improvement company nationally, making it the largest U.S. company of its kind before he sold his ownership interests in American Home Improvement Company to Sears in 1999.
