Dee Poku is a highly experienced marketing and branding professional, who has developed and implemented innovative campaigns for a cross section of high profile films, television shows and brands. Poku was formerly Head of International Marketing at Paramount Pictures, where she oversaw the release campaigns for the studio’s movies, including Al Gore’s ‘An Inconvenient Truth’; the Coen brothers’ ‘No Country For Old Men’; Marc Forster’s ‘The Kite Runner’; Alejandro González Iñárritu’s ‘Babel’, starring Brad Pitt; Michael Winterbottom’s ‘A Mighty Heart’, starring Angelina Jolie and Sean Penn’s ‘Into the Wild’. At Focus Features, a division of Universal Studios, Poku’s creative skills and knowledge of the marketplace, helped propel movies such as Sofia Coppola’s Lost in Translation, Ang Lee’s, Brokeback Mountain, Fernando Meirelles’ The Constant Gardener, Alejandro González Iñárritu 21 Grams and Michel Gondry’s Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind to box office success. Other roles include Head of Marketing and Publicity at leading UK film company, Momentum Pictures, handling the release campaigns for Michael Moore’s Bowling for Columbine, and the Coen brothers’ ‘O Brother Where Art Thou’, amongst others. UK born Poku began her career at Lynne Franks, a promotions/PR agency where she worked with some of the world’s largest brands, including Coca Cola, Absolut Vodka, and Stella Artois. Dee Poku holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. She is a member of the British Academy (BAFTA) and the Los Angeles division of Women in Film.
