Patrick Rhode is one of the most valuable names in external affairs . With wide ranging experiences from journalism to a Fortune 500 Company, from NASA to being hand selected by the White House as a national spokesperson during the eye of an historic hurricane, Rhode brings demonstrated ability to develop strategic approaches and perspective to clients facing a wide range of issues. Currently, Rhode is the United States Vice President of Corporate Affairs at Cintra Developments. He is responsible for handling external affairs for one of the largest transportation infrastructure companies in the world.
Patrick Rhode has accumulated almost two decades of experience in some of the highest profile positions in government and notable private companies. Before joining Cintra, Patrick Rhode was the Senior Advisor for Communications to the NASA Administrator for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. He recommended public educational approaches to reinvigorate citizens about the importance of NASA and the benefits that can be derived through the space program. The efforts had more benefits than just changing perception as NASA transitions in the 21st century; it helped NASA make its case during difficult budgetary times on Capitol Hill.
Rhode was the Director of Homeland Security and Intelligence at Bearing Point, providing his expertise in crisis communication and homeland security, consulting private and public sector clients.
Patrick Rhode has the privilege of being the 1st Chief of Staff of the Department of Homeland Security - serving two FEMA Directors. During his tenure, Rhode had the monumental task of working to consolidate more than 20 agencies into a more efficient agency where information can be distributed and acknowledged effectively. Furthermore, Rhode worked with the senior team to manage over 150 Presidential Emergency and Disaster Declarations, including assisting the agency overcome the difficulties of Hurricane Katrina - leading to the ultimately successful management of hundreds of thousands of disaster evacuees as housed throughout the continental united states by the federal government - an effort never before attempted in the modern history of the United States.
Patrick Rhode has held other government positions such as becoming the Technology Administration Communications Director for the Department of Commerce, and as an Associate Administrator for the United States Small Business Administration.
Rhode has worked for Texas state government at the Department of Housing, establishing himself as a skillful professional and media manager who has the ability to conceptualize and frame public policy initiatives.
His illustrious career began at WCFT Television before becoming an award-winning AP News Anchor for KHBS Television, and ABC affiliate.
A native of Hot Springs, Arkansas, He received his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Arkansas. Rhode encourages support of the American Cancer Society, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and the American Red Cross.
