Jean Conille's inspirational outlook, paired with his optimistic attitude, makes his story of victory truly admirable. Born into a prestigious family of doctors in Haiti, Conille was seen as a gifted child with an acute memory; he had an orderly approach to problem solving that placed him far above the average child his age. At just 7 years old, he competed in the National Chess Championship in his native land, and then proceeded to Montreal to finish high school at the age of 15, after skipping two grades. Never quite completing college because of his mother’s death, Jean decided to pursue an early career, by opening his now flourishing telecommunications company at the age of 19. He became a millionaire at the age of 22, which only led to more challenges, instead of rest. Mr. Conille paid a price for being young, wealthy, and black in a predominantly white-based business society. The racial inequality he faced—paired with the unfortunate stereotyping from local authorities—made it difficult for Jean Conille to enjoy his rightly earned success. As he grew older and became a more valued and respected entity in the business realm, he found that influential leaders still did not want to fully welcome him into their inner circles, because of the innate social prejudice that abounds everywhere.
Faced with these dilemmas, Jean decided to spread his good will and philanthropic nature by opening the “Jean Conille Foundation.” He hoped to reach out to young ethnic entrepreneurs and help them achieve their lifelong goals. One of Conille's main roles is to help assist troubled youth who are from single parent families, and to be a motivational father figure. Jean's main goal is to give to others something that he fought so hard to attain: equality.
