Profile
Dr. Spero Theodorou is not only a recognized plastic surgeon, but is also a notable writer and active academic. Outside of his surgical works, Dr. Theodorou is known to be a remarkable academic figure that many of his students and peers can learn from. Within his years of surgical training and schooling, Dr. Theodorou’s educational background, as well as his writing and lectures on various surgical and medical matters, have earned him a distinguished reputation within his line of work. With all the experiences and knowledge he has gained, Dr. Theodorou gives back to the greater community by sharing his skills and sharing his knowledge. Among other charitable endeavors, Dr. Spero Theodorou has traveled to Guatemala as part of the Rush Craniofacial Center's cleft lip and palate team. In the past, Dr. Spero Theodorou has earned awards such as the “Harry B. Slocum Award” for outstanding first year resident in general surgery. He also took part as a microsurgery research fellow in plastic and reconstructive surgery. As for his post schooling and training years, Dr. Spero Theodorou has presented at medical seminars such as: The Annual Clinical Congress of the American College of Surgeons, and the Annual Meeting of the Southeastern Surgical Congress. To this day, Dr. Spero Theodorou has maintained his academic ways as a continuous contributor to his field. Dr. Theodorou hopes to pass on more knowledge within his industry once he completes the two projects he currently has in progress. His first project is an examination of hard and soft tissue changes after vertical mandibular distraction in a canine model. His second project is a study of the short term and long term effect of autologous fat that is implanted in people that have a secondary cleft lip deformity. Dr. Spero Theodorou is a diligent plastic surgeon that is still one of the most valued and successful plastic surgeons today. He continues to work in his own private practice and at three hospitals in New York, and one in New Jersey.
