Dr. George Bernato is a respected member of Philadelphia’s mental health community. He has received credentials from some of America’s greatest institutions, proving an asset to the mental health community. In 1981, he earned a Master of Education in Counseling, and continued on to complete his Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling Psychology in 1986. To complement these degrees, Dr. Bernato has also completed advanced training at the Albert Ellis Institute (formerly the Institute of Rational Emotive Therapy), post-doctorate work in Jungian analysis at the C.G. Jung Institutes of Minneapolis and Philadelphia, along with modern psychoanalytic training from the Philadelphia School of Psychoanalysis. Eranos Counseling is Dr Bernato's private practice in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Here, he works to offer a creative and compassionate treatment combining Jungian talk therapy with other modern modes such as Sandplay and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), assisting adults with personal issues such as post-traumatic stress, addiction, and relationship problems that can lead to increased stress and hostility at home and work. Eranos counseling provides a safe and comfortable environment in which adults can discuss their feelings at their own pace without being judged or criticized.
Dr Bernato has 20 plus years of experience and training, holding memberships in the American Psychological Association, the American Counseling Association, the National Association for Advancement of Psychoanalysis, the American Psychotherapy Association, and the Pennsylvania Counseling Association. He is an American Psychotherapy Association Board Certified Professional Counselor. In addition, he has been recognized for his expertise with referrals from Psychology Today and his induction into the National Distinguished Service Registry in January of 1990.
