? Profile

Charles W. Hinck’s affinity for flight can be traced back to his childhood, and the first times his grandfather, Clarence—or “CW,” as he was often referred—brought the young Charles along for daily visits to the Hinck Flying Service hangars at Monticello Airport and Crystal Airport in Minnesota. It was from these airports that CW Hinck ran his Fixed Based Operation (FBO), and taught thousands of individuals to fly under the GI bill during and after the war. Charles’ grandfather also ran the Congress of Thrillers, an aviation stunt show that thrilled fair-goers throughout the Midwest during the 1920s and 1930s. Charles’ father was also a pilot, and Charles’ great uncle, Elmer Hinck, who performed stunts as part of the Congress of Thrillers, was a well-respected flight instructor and stunt aviator nicknamed “The Wing Walker.” Charles W. Hinck earned his pilot’s license from Lynch Flying Service in Billings, MT in 1970, his Instrument Commercial Multi Engine license at Ross School of Aviation in Tulsa, OK in 1974 and, later on his career, his Airline Transport Pilot license in the Philippines. Charles Hinck served as the first president of Corporate Air, Inc (CAI) in Subic Bay, Philippines, where he handled air operations for FedEx intra-Philippines. When ORBIS came to Subic Bay, Philippines, to provide free medical assistance, Charles W. Hinck was in charge of logistics on behalf of Corporate Air and Fed Ex. _During his time at Saint Thomas Academy, Saint Thomas University, Rocky Mountain College, and Ross School of Aviation, Charles Hinck was a student of business and aviation. Charles Hinck is a member of the EAA and the AOPA. Charles W. Hinck is an ardent supporter of DO-24 World Tour, an effort by pilot Iren Dornier and a team of flyers to raise funds for donation to UNICEF in the Philippines. In 2005, Iren Dornier and Charles Hinck brought the DO-24 Flying Boat to EAA Oshkosh Airventure where it was very well received. Whenever he has a spare moment, Charles Hinck—a former professional skier—enjoys skiing, swimming, and bodybuilding. Mr. Hinck enjoys reading and lives with his wife. The couple has two children.
