French-born researcher and neuroscientist Claudie Gordon-Pomares is a child development specialist, who has dedicated her life’s work to coaching families on how to assist their children in overcoming mild to severe brain dysfunctions, developmental disabilities, learning difficulties, and neurological disorders. She specializes in working with children struggling with Down syndrome, attention deficit disorder, autism, cerebral palsy, fetal alcohol syndrome, epilepsy, and depression. Over the course of her career, Claudie Gordon-Pomares has written four books on sensory development: L'Eveil Sensorial de Mon Enfant (My Child's Sensory Development), Le Manuel Pratique du Jouet (The practical Guide to Play), and Papa, Maman, l'Ecole et Moi (Dad, Mom, School, and Me), as well as collaborated with notable pediatricians on several scholarly articles.
Claudie Gordon-Pomares holds a Master’s degree in Psychology from the University of Reims in France, and the psychologist, author, and tutor currently heads multiple child development institutions in several parts of the world. She is the President of GDI, a child development organization located in Paris, France, the Founder of Cours Aspen, an education facility in Polynesia, and the Director of the Brain Repair Institute of Canada in Okotoks, Alberta. The pinnacle of her career has undoubtedly been her creation of the Brain Repair Institute, which was founded on the principle of M.A.P.S., or Monitored Multi-cortical Activities for Additional Pathways and Synapses, a program Claudie Gordon-Pomares designed to stimulate the senses and encourages the brain to repair itself. As the Brain Repair Institute’s Director, Claudie Gordon-Pomares travels throughout North America giving seminars on M.A.P.S. to parents with developmentally challenged children. Thus far, Claudie Gordon-Pomares’ sensory stimulation program has been implemented in hospitals and daycares and undergone clinical studies for cerebral palsy. Clinical trials are in progress for the effects of M.A.P.S. on neonates, Down syndrome, and autism.
