 Profile
Dr. Jorg Peter Rabanus was born in Neumunster, Germany. He completed his dental training as best in his class (class valedictorian) of 160 students. He also received highest honors (summa-cum-laude) for his thesis. In fact, he was only the third individual to have received a summa-cum-laude for a doctor's thesis since the existence of the faculty. The topic of his dissertation was on the subject of Oral Biology, for which he received a national award by the German Society of Dental, Oral, and Maxillo-facial Medicine.
Dr. Rabanus was awarded a scholarship by the German Research Council for a 2-year post-doctoral fellowship in the field of Oral Medicine and Oral Biology at the Department of Stomatology of the University of California in San Francisco. He attained certification by the American Board of Oral Medicine in 1990. He then completed a one-year residency of Advanced Education in General Dentistry at the University of California in San Francisco, where he received training in advanced concepts of dentistry.
Dr. Rabanus returned to Germany where he completed 2 years of Medical School and took the first National Medical Board at the University of Homburg in Germany. When Dr. Rabanus received his Green Card (permanent residency) for the United States, he decided to discontinue his medical studies and continue his professional career in San Francisco. Since 2002 he has a dual citizenship for Germany and the United States.
He has been in private practice since 1995, where he deepened his skills to a wide spectrum of cosmetic dental procedures. He became a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) in 1995 and was accredited by the AACD in January of the year 2000. Dr. Rabanus has been the only German dentist with this achievement.
Dr. Rabanus has given presentations at national and international meetings and has written numerous publications on the subject of Oral Biology. Dr. Rabanus has given lectures about Cosmetic Dentistry to international residents of a post-doctoral program at the University of California in San Francisco and has given presentations in Portuguese to students and dentists in Rio De Janeiro in Brazil.
