Profile
Growing up in a family-owned business, Lucia Peregrim always felt she would like to run her own operation. Now she is the operations manager for Ricochet's Rapid Detail, 715 Fig St., Scranton, an automotive detailing business. It all started when she and her husband Dave Peregrim finally opened their own shop -- Richochet's -- in April 2005. Dave detailed cars for Tom Hesser Chevrolet and other shops, and since 1998 has detailed for Kelly Volkswagen. She points to her husband's hard work and her excellent public relations skills as tools they use to get the business off the ground and keep it healthy. She supported her husband's dreams from the beginning as his professional and personal lifetime partner. The whole thing comes down to proper planning, she says. Once you have the dream and know how to do it, you can do anything, she stresses. She credits her parents who ran Lucia's pizza from 1984 to 2001 for her work ethic and she attributes her professional success to her husband. They both worked very hard to get where they are now, she says. Their ability to work well together makes it possible to achieve their mutual goals. The biggest challenges come from the competitive nature of the local automotive market. There are many businesses of all sizes vying for the automotive owner's money. But the challenges are outweighed by the rewards. "Making our customers happy", she claims as her biggest reward. When asked about what women professionals should do to prepare for their futures, she says plainly they should do something they enjoy. "I would advise young women to work hard, go to school for as long as you can and take advantage of the opportunities that are available". She also believes in pursuing the dream. "As long as you have a dream you can achieve anything", she says. She, her husband, dog Daisy Duke and two cats Bo Duke and WynDixie enjoy the private time they have together. But she admits private time is hard to find. Concentrating on keeping everything organized and afloat, she works on the side for Geisinger Medical System in the finance department and for Notify MD as an answering service operator. In the end she emphasizes she is grateful for everything she has and feels very successful in what she does.
