Profile
Chef Sandy was born in Miami, Florida to South American, Jewish parents. Her mother was born in Colombia & her father was born in Argentina. She is fluent in both English & Spanish.
Her passion for food began when she was very young. Jewish holidays in her home were filled with people smiling, sounds of laughter & wonderful aromas emanating from the kitchen. Her mother would cook; often she would entertain guests.
As she grew older, she wanted to feed her creative talents. She attended the High School of Art & Design in New York City. After graduation, she landed a job working at the Russian Tea Room. She knew the hospitality industry was the right fit; she loved taking care of people, & she loved to cook.
Soon thereafter, she attended the CULINARY INSTITUTE OF AMERICA in Hyde Park, NY
After Chef Sandy graduated the Culinary Institute, she had many stints in restaurants & catering throughout the city working with chefs like Cornelius Gallagher, Jean-Georges Vongerichten & Gray Kunz. She then took a big leap into the kosher world, working at Levana restaurant hoping to satisfy her need to become more observant while still practicing her passion. It still was not enough.
Taking her cooking to another level, she created her own personal chef service & It's Heavenly Kosher Personal Chef Service was born! Chef Sandy will also be teaching classes at the Happy Home Culinary in Brooklyn, NY. starting October 2007.
*Chef Sandy is certified in food safety.
