Joachim Graf was born in 1960, is married and has three children. He studied sociology and politics at the University of Munich.
From 1980 till 1983 he worked as the Federal Managing Director of the Deutsche Jugend-presse e.V. (German Youth Press). Thereafter until 1986 he was the Configuration Control Manager at the Deutsche Forschungs- und Versuchsanstalt für Luft- und Raumfahrt (German Research and Experiment Laboratories for Aerospace). From 1986 till 1989 he worked first as an Editor and later als the Deputy Chief Editor of the magazine „Happy Computer“ published by Markt & Technik Verlag.
Since 1989 he lives and works in Munich as a Publicist and Editor, Trend-Scout, Consultant, Speaker and Author. Among others he wrote „Murphys Computergesetze“ (Murphy´s Computer Laws) and numerous market studies on the multimedia industry of Germany, Switzerland and Austria. He is a lecturer and teacher at the Macromedia Academy in Munich.
1991 he founded together with his partner Daniel Treplin HighText Verlag (HighText Publishing). The company provides knowledge services and trend-scouting on topics and issues in the realm of Interactive Media und Media Convergence. HighText runs the internet-based magazine iBusiness (www.iBusiness.de) and a distribution, production and consulting service for Online PR (www.press1.de).
Since 2003 he is the Spokesman of the Board of the FIWM Förderkreis IT- und Medien-wirtschaft München e.V. (Association for the Promotion of the IT- and Media Industry of Munich).
During the years 2006 and 2007 he gave speeches on the following topics and event: "Marketing auf dem Weg zu Web 3.0" / Dialog Marketing Forum, Vienna, Austria "Crash der Konvergenzen" / Media in Transition, Munich "Web 3.0 im Tourismus" / Marketing-Kongress, Bolzano,, Italy "Chancen und Herausforderungen des Onlinehandels nach Web 2.0" / Versandhandelskongress, Wiesbaden) „Monitoring IuK-Wirtschaft“ Expertenworkshop zum Zweiten Nationalen IT-Gipfel, Berlin; "Doing business with Europe" (ICT Africa, Addis Abeba).
