Profile
Amit Sharma works in the areas of technology-based and social Innovation. Working at the Software Engineering Technology Labs- the corporate R&D division of Infosys Technologies, he has successfully led the development of various Innovative R&D projects in the areas of Grid Computing, Web Services and Software Licensing. In the social sector, Amit has co-founded two unique not-for-profit organizations called Kutumb (in Delhi) and doSomething (in Bangalore).
Kutumb has: • successfully implemented an ambitious education program for slum-children in Khan market area in New Delhi • organized an innovative football competition between children from different NGOs in Delhi for the last 3 years • conducted healthcare camps for slum dwellers with doctors from leading hospitals from Delhi
doSomething: • is working with various schools in Bangalore to carry out leadership development using its Leadership for Young Adults (LYA) program • has developed 30 schoolchildren as ambassadors for various NGOs and social causes • is working on a sustainable development program for Tsunami affected areas (see www.ground1.org)
On the technology side, Amit has an active publishing record- with more than 10 research papers in reputed IEEE/ACM conferences like ccGrid, IJCAI, IEEE’s SMC, Tencon, WISE and GlobusWORLD.
