Born and raised in San Francisco, Les Paul started his music career in a strong family built environment with a foundation based solely on the education of Art and Music. He is an avidly inclined artist and naturally accustomed to sound surrounding him everyday.
Through his family’s support and steady influence he began to learn and play the drums at the ripe early age of four. The heaviest musical influence in becoming a DJ, began at the age of Eleven from all the 80’s Rock, Electronic/Disco, and Hip Hop influence that was both on the radio and television. It was also heavily motivated by his Grandmother when she began a routine of taking him around with her to deliver Mary Kay - one of her most steadiest clients was the mother of Richard “Q BERT” Quittevis and he got the priviledge of after church or school; being able to spend several hours snooping and hanging around while he was practicing his routines for DJ Battles and Competitions.
It wasn’t until midway into high school that Les Paul, himself would pick up set of turntables. There at his high school was student radio station in which he attended known as 90.5 KVHS with a teacher by the name of Mr. Wilson. Because he is a Youthfully, Mixed-Ethnicity Male he does not want his music to get labeled and/or categorized. He has spent several years practicing and competing in Local and Statewide DJ Battles, Competitions at Guitar Center, Amoeba, Hip Hop Shops or at friends garages and rooms. Scratching, Beat Juggling, and Mixing any record he could get his hands on. He has played as well as performed live with LIVE Bands and other Musicians as well.
His early gigs in the scene were at Club Access, Cadillac Ranch, DV8, SoundFactory, City Nights, and small dive bars around the world. One in particular was known as Lindy’s Bar & Grill, playing funky deep house, breaks and dnb. With gift for the manipulation of the drums into what is known as rare slightly jazz syncopated rhythm with light harmonious horns and flutes that are carried along by melodic bass riffs and reverberating vibratons.
His most recent performances were at almost every club in San Francisco and throughout the Bay Area, including Northern and Southern California (i.e.The Gallery Lounge, BUTTER SF, Café Essaouira, Luna Lounge, Levende, Element Lounge, WISH SF, Sublounge, Blush Lounge in Burlingame and the infamous 52 Mason). He is well known for many of his underground and commercial events like HAPPY DAZE and ULTRABLEND.
He’s opened up for Fatboy Slim (AstralWerks), as well as played with others i.e. like:
Michael Anthony & the Late Night Sneaky, Kwai Le Chief, Dimitri Mykonos, Frenchy Le Freak, DJ DAN, DJ DENISE, Thomas Trouble (T&J Factory), and UFO! (Phylum Recordings).
He is currently working on projects with Lauren Whistler aka Missao (Source4), Bryan De Leon (RemixCulture/Journees Music), Mike Atallah (Collage Music), and Arlee B (Sanctioned Records) and many more soon to be announced.
